Fresh Faced

I'm getting ready to go camping with some adorable kids, but I have a tonne of other things to do too, so I ventured away from my normal makeup routine and went natural. Let's all go as natural as we can and see how many compliments you get, I've had a few already!
Here's what I did and exactly what I used:
1. I moisturised with Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion and waited till it made my skin baby soft :)

Aveeno specialises in skincare products for sensitive and dry skin. Aveeno uses natural products like Soy, Oats and Feverfew to calm and hydrate skin. check out their lifesaving products by clicking on the link above.

2. I concealed a few of my blemishes with my M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer SPF35.

M.A.C has always been my go to and their studio finish concealer is a double whammy because it's creamy texture and high pigment gives you full coverage where you need it and it's also an SPF35, preventing you from any hyper pigmentation (which unfortunately, I have lots of).

3. I wasn't up to a full on foundation so I swept on some M.A.C Select Sheer pressed powder.

Again, M.A.C is my makeup wonder bra, just brilliant! I swiped this over my face. The beauty about this is that when you put it on, unlike some other powders, you couldn't feel this on your skin. It goes on well and wont shift. I have to blend a little where I have my concealer, but still, this compact will be coming camping with me... just in case!

4. I added some Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Lip Therapy and off we go!

I've been using this since I can remember! it's great for cuts, dry skin and chapped lips. What else can I say, this is just one of those products loved by everyone and used by almost everyone!

Tell me what you lovelies use, anything you want me to try, any recommendations?

True Beauty Confession: In the last eight years, I've only had Thai or Korean hairdressers cut my hair

Anyone else have any strange beauty confessions? In return from the hairdressers, I've realised that in the last eight years, I've only ever had Korean or Thai hair dressers cut my hair.

It's not that I don't trust more Western hairdressers... For some odd reason, I just always seem to gravitate towards Asian hairdressers...

Please comment with your beauty confessions :)

Go-To Outfits: I'm-Being-Really-Casual-Like-Really-I-Just-Woke-Up-Like-This-And-I'm-Not-Trying-To-Impress-You-At-All-Definitely-Not Outfit

Heeey :) I'm starting a new segment today: Go-To outfits. I know we all have them, I, admittedly, have a ridiculous amount of them...

So picture this, you invite a , ahem, friend (or numerous, ahem, friends ;) ) over to work on an assignment. You don't want to totally doll up, because, really, you're in your own home, doing an assignment. So you want to keep it totally casual. Let's take a look at some amazing outfits from JCrew. Seriously, I love JCrew, if I could spend my entire life wearing just one brand... This would be in my top ten choices :DDD

A cute sweater and shorts?? Doesn't look too dressed up, but still very put together.
Jeans and a colour block sweater. You still get the whole "not dressing up" thing, but with a big burst of colour.
Okay, you can seriously, not tell me that this girl doesn't just look adorable. The peach sweater and jeans... LOVE IT!
When I look at this pic, I get this little caption speech bubble above the model's head "I'm a SO ready to learn and... study... with you ;)"
The long sleeved top and jeans enhances this models figure. Perfect for showing off your rack without actually looking like you're trying to draw attention to them ;)
 A cute, stripy, casual tee.
A yummmy looking cardigan in a very yummmmy looking colour.
She looks so sexily nerdily studious... Perfect.

So, my I'm-Not-Trying-To-Impress-You casual look is a bit like the purple long sleeved top pic I included.  I have occasionally worn a deep blue, long sleeved top with a reasonably deep-ish neckline... Not showing any cleavage, but giving quite a nice view of my collar bones, which, is apparently, a very alluring part of a woman's body (bonus!). And with the top, I wear a pair of dark wash boot cut jeans. My favourite pair :)

Now I know we haven't exactly got a hell of a lot of readers, but if you would like (I know I would LOVE it) if you left a comment below and described your go to Not-Trying-To-Impress-You outfit.

Beauty Review: M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

Yet another M.A.C foundation! Like I said in my last post, I'm a bit of a junkie when it comes to makeup, especially foundations! I bought the Studio Fix Fluid foundation at Heathrow airport on my way back to Australia and was in a bit of a rush, so I'll admit, this foundation's colour is a bit too dark for me, but with the right blending it works for late nights out and it's perfect for when you'll be under the camera lights.

My bottle is NC42, however, I should be an NC32. Like I said, bit of a difference! I wont let that deter me from reviewing this though.

This foundation is brilliant!! As usual, M.A.C does not disappoint. This foundation is much more liquidy than it's mineral sister, however, it still gives you amazing coverage. it even works as a concealer when applied more to certain spots.

The pigmentation on this foundation is just beautiful. I would add a finishing powder to this foundation as it's consistency is very liquidy. The foundation once applied is heavy, so taking it off will need extra attention.

The only real downside to this product is that it is not a pump bottle and it is hard to get the perfect amount, and it does spill occasionally. M.A.C has brought out a new bottle containing the same foundation now, which is a pump bottle, so not to worry there!

Overall, great! lot's of coverage, no concealer needed underneath or on top. Slightly liquidy, but nothing translucent powder cant fix. lasts all day with virtually no touch ups. Leaves skin matte, but glowing.

Comments please all you lovelies!

Beauty Review: M.A.C Mineralise Foundation

Time for another foundation review lovelies!
This time I'll be reviewing the M.A.C mineralise satin finish SPF15 foundation.
This little beauty was the first liquid foundation that I ever bought and it was worth every penny!
I confess to being a bit of a makeup junkie, I never finish an entire bottle of foundation... do you guys? leave comments!

This foundation lasts a long time! around 9 to 10 months I used this and I still have the bottle, its got another month I'd say left in it. This foundation is a liquid, but it has a creamy texture to it that feels like it gives you staying power. It lasted me the whole day, however, it would make me shiny on my T-Zone. If you have oily or combination skin, add a translucent finishing powder to the needed areas if you want to wear this, if however, you have dry skin, just the foundation will do.

It doesn't smell strong like some foundations, if you've ever been to makeup counters and smelt it there, it smells like makeup, that's how I describe it, this foundation smells like I'm at a makeup counter.

Application is smooth, and it blends in perfectly to your skin, it does leave you with a bit of sparkle on your skin, although not Edward Cullen sparkly! This foundation contains vitamins A, C and E which help nurture the skin too.

Overall, this foundation glides on well, looks like your skin and not like a cake exploded on your face and is very blendable! It evens out redness and doesn't smell too strong like some foundations.

Hope this helped you lovelies!

Bronzer

Hello my lovelies!
Time for a quick how to on one of my absolute fave beauty products in my arsenal! Bronzer!
My skin is fairer than the rest in my family (I'm Indian) my father's skin is very fair and we almost always get mistaken for less tanned Spanish people! back to the point, I am always trying to look glowy and bronzed, so my go to is always 'Thin Lizzy'. Brilliant product! click on the link to find out more.
I'm going to be giving you a crash course in applying bronzer now, so buckle up ;)

If you have oily skin, go for a powdered bronzer, and if you tend to have dry skin, a liquid bronzer is perfect for you, if however, you have combination, you get to pick. You lucky gals!
Try and go for a bronzer one or two shades darker than your skin tone and go for a glowy, golden colour.
With powder formulas, apply with a fluffy bronzing or blush brush like this NARS bronzing brush.

1. Swirl the brush into the powder and tap off any excess, then add lightly, remembering that you can add more if you feel you need it.

2. Apply to places the sun would naturally hit, such as your nose, forehead, chin and the apples of your cheeks.

3. Apply in a swirling motion so the product distributes evenly over your face.

For those using a liquid bronzer, apply to the same places, only with a sponge or your fingers.

1. Add a couple of drops of your chosen bronzer to a sponge or your fingers and add to the nose, chin, forehead, and the apples of your cheeks.

2. Again, start with little as you may add more on top, just remember to keep it natural and not like you're auditioning to be the next head oompah loompah!

Remember to do this somewhere with natural light so when you go outside you can shine like a goddess and not look like a streaky orange zebra!

Ear Piercing: Getting mine done for the second time tomorrow!

Now I know most girls my age have their ears pierced already... but truth be told, I'm a little nervous about having mine done tomorrow, I've had a bad experience...

So last year I had my ears pierced, but after about two months of having them in... The stopper at the back of the earring got stuck... IN MY EAR!
I had to go to surgery and have the doctor cut open my ear and take the stopper out, and I'm totally fine now (and with two ears, thank goodness!), but I'm still a little worried about getting them done again.

Never the less, it's been 13 months, 4 months longer than what the doctor said I needed, so I think I should be alright... At least I hope so!!

Has anyone else had any disastrous piercing accidents? Let us know in the comment section!!

Stay foxie (and wish me luck!!)

The Voice AU: Yellow Manicures

Has anyone else been watching The Voice AU? I am completely hooked!!
I love all the coaches, but one thing that always catches my eye is Seal's bright yellow manicure, which, I know, isn't a new, new thing, but I still love them, so I'm going to blog about them :)

And they don't just look fabulous on Seal, so fabulous, in fact, that I've included a close up :D

I am yet to try out this trend, but I'm (finally) going to the mall tomorrow, so I might pick up a bottle in this shade while I'm there...

You could go bold like this lady here...

Or try out this super cute yellow French manicure...

Emily Blunt's Fuschia and Green

Who else LOVED Emily Blunt's look at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival?
Blunt rocked the bold lip look, tying the Fuschia in with the soft hue of green, embroided on her dress. I feel head first in love with this colour combination... Love it so much.

The secret for pulling the look off? Blunt kept everything else simple and neat. Her hair is tied back, the rest of her make up is simple and clean. Drawing your eye straight into the bold colouring.

Doesn't she look stunning?!

Recipe: Tomato and Capsicum Mint Salad

This is a DELICIOUS and healthy (bonus!) recipe that my sister and I made for dinner last night. Served with some pasta, or some bread... yummmmmmm!

Serves about four as a side.

Ingredients:
2x large tomatoes (roughly chopped into thumb sized pieces)
2x red capsicums (roughly chopped into thumb sized pieces)
1x sprig of mint (you can change how much mint you want depending on your preference of mintiness)
1x Cucumber (chopped into small pieces, but not TOO small)
1x Carrot (chopped into similar sizes to the cucumber)
1x Red Onion (cut into thin slices)
Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil to dress

Method:
1) Mix all ingredients in a salad bowl (simple as that)
2) Enjoy

And if I can cook it, so can you. You can ask the other bloggers of my very impressive kitchen skills. Really, I'm just an artistic cook, and I LIKE bubbles... Just coz the pasta was about to explode on Friday night, Kav, doesn't mean ANYTHING!

Happy eating!!

Tinted Primers

Afternoon my lovelies :)
Hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday! Today I'm going to share the benefits of a tinted primer today.
I've been using the Napolean Perdis SET calming pre-foundation primer for the last couple of weeks and I don't hate it but I don't love it either. The green primer has helped calm redness on my skin and give me a soft base to start with. I've noticed my skin is less red too, even without the primer, so it must have done something good!

The way colour correcting primers help is that they combat bigger areas of unwanted colour, as opposed to a little colour flaw that can be sorted out with a colour correcting concealer (if you want to know more about the concealers check out my last post Colour Correcting Concealer).

People with rosacea would benefit greatly from a colour correcting primer, it will help a tad, however, this does depend on the severity of your rosacea. Likewise, people with yellow based tones in their skin often find it hard to wear many foundations as a lot of foundations on the market cater to pink based tones (I'll be posting on how to find your undertone soonish!). Purple primers are very popular in the Asian market for this very reason. Yellow is also there for anyone with dark colours they want to get rid of and purple-y undertones (any of you been in a fistfight recently? you might like this!.. not that we condone fistfights at Foxie!).
Any of you needing a little help to achieve a natural glow, try a coral based primer, mix it in with your foundation or add it underneath tired and dull looking skin for a just been on holiday glow.

Talk to you all very soon!

Colour Correcting Concealer

I have been very sceptical about colour corrector concealers. I was always in a tie between whether I should spend my money on that or a new bronzer or gloss, however, last week I just went out and bought one and it's absolutely AH-MAY-ZINGG!

I've been using the Australis conceal correct 4 in 1 concealer corrector palette as it was all I could find, their product line is brilliant, definitely check them out for any newbies :)

I'll go over the colour's and how they combat irritating colours on your skin that prevent it from glowing beautifully!

Green: combats redness

The green concealer works to combat redness, for anyone with big red pimples. if you have rosacea, I'll be posting about colour correcting primers later on. If you tend to cover the colour up with concealer or foundation and all you get is redness that just looks like foundation over red bumps, this concealer colour is for you. It conceals any blemishes, red blotches and rosacea.

Beige: combats flaws

The beigey-peachy colour helps to hide any dark pigments and helps brighten under-eye circles. it hides minor bruises, sun damage and hides dark spots. Use this colour if you have any pigmentation

Purple/Lavender: combats sallow complexions

Lavender or purple concealer treats very sallow, dull or tired  looking skin. It helps to normalise imperfections for an even base to start your makeup. This colour can also help cover under-eye circles and dark spots if you have a browner, more tanned natural complexion.

If you ever have any trouble, think of the neutralisation like the colours on a colour wheel. The opposite colour to the one plaguing your face will neutralise it.

Of course your face won't turn up this intensely with colour, but this is the gist of it.
Purple will combat yellow, dull looking skin, whereas green will combat redness.

Be sure to apply enough colour corrector so that there are none of those pesky, unwanted colours still peeking out. Apply your foundation as you would normally as none of the purples and greens will show up under your foundation.

Hope this helped any of you lovelies :)

Coloured Jeans (Sai's first post...eeepp!)

Hi everyone!
Super excited to start posting on Foxie, and to kick it off (for me, that is, Kav's already been super diligent) I've decided my first post will be on Coloured Jeans, a trend that has found itself quite popular at the moment, which I do not find a surprise at all, I love them.

(Drawing inspiration from www.idrawfashion.com)

I've just drawn some of the popular colours: red, electric blue, magenta, lilac, but some other really popular shades are turquoise, pale pink, maroon, green...

Let's take a look at some stylish ways to wear coloured jeans:
Now HERE's a lovely way to wear the electric blue shade of jeans, but of course, this style would work well with other colours, particularly a red... The neutral tones help balance out the  brightness, which is a plus if you want to try and go for a little less of a "ZOMG LOOK AT ME" reaction, but still keep the VAVROOOM factor. Horizontal stripes, particularly in black and white (as shown in the picture above) look fab with your coloured jeans,
Cameron Diaz displaying pale pink jeans. I personally really love this look. Subtle and classy. Casual, but not so casual at the same. Like you could spend the whole day at the mall or park or whatever in it, then go out for dinner :D

Now this look is courtesy of Jeans West. Concentrate on the pic on the right... Don't you just LOVE those maroon jeans? And the kind of boho feel the whole outfit has got? Love it. I seriously, seriously, seriously love it.
Even Kate Middleton is hopping on the coloured denim train! And we know if Kate Middleton is wearing it, it's bound to be fab and classy. Enough said.

And here we have Miranda and Flynn (naww). Miranda makes her red jeans look cute and casual. Again with the horizontal stripes!

So there you go. This proves coloured jeans can be one of the most versatile, yet smoking items in your wardrobe.
TIPS FOR WEARING COLOURED JEANS:
- Feel free to mix and match your colours and combos
- Worried about ODing on colour? Match your bright jeans with neutrals.
- STILL worried about attracting too much attention, go for a shade like lilac. It's a shade close to grey, but still fun, flirty and playful.
- Please note, some shades of jeans can not be the most flattering, that is, unless you have legs like my sister, who can wear pale yellow jeans and still have her legs look tiny, avoid really really light shades, like pale yellow as I mentioned before.
 - Nude coloured heels will forever look amazing with coloured jeans no matter what colour your denim is.

Hope that was a help to you guys :D
What do you think of coloured denim? Attack the comment section with your thoughts. Much appreciated, thanks ;)
